What we do

We provide a range of services for people with disabilities. These are available to them at home or in their communities, and at Navajeevana’s holistic centre in Tangalla.

Our video below contains more information about what we do:

Our programme of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) seeks to reach people in some of southern Sri Lanka’s most remote areas. Through a network of community based volunteers we provide a holistic service for people with disabilities. We work with the whole person – from early identification and intervention to full rehabilitation.

The majority of our clients suffer from physical disabilities caused by neurological problems, accidents, stroke, cerebral palsy and hearing impairment. Our dedicated institutional based rehabilitation (IBR) department caters to them by providing prosthetics and orthotics; physiotherapy; speech therapy; audio therapy; and access to wheelchairs and supportive seating.

From humble beginnings, our special education programme has now developed into a network of four special schools and two community schools which provide hundreds of children across the Hambantota, Matara and Ratnapura districts with education, and for many, the chance to enter mainstream education.

At our beautiful premises in Tangalle, we run clinics for people with disabilities, accommodation for people with disabilities and their families, a cafe and craft shop for visiting tourists, and we also have a fully accessible training centre.
